Lent
The Season of “Lent” is the 40-day period (not including Sundays) before Easter. Join us in preparation for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus (Easter):
Wednesdays during Lent – 6:00 pm Dinner (gym) and 7:00 pm Worship
Holy Week and Easter Schedule
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (Sunday, April 17, 2012) – Usual worship schedule (above)
Maundy* Thursday Worship @ 7:30 pm
* “Maundy” means “commandment.” This worship (where we hear again Jesus’ command to love others as he has loved us along with instruction of the Lord’s Supper) begins a three-day worship experience concluding with Easter (Resurrection) Sunday.
Good Friday Worship @ 7:30 pm
This worship focuses on the crucifixion of Jesus by which our sins are “paid for” in full by his death. It is “good” in our belief that by God’s act of grace Jesus gave his life for our sins.
Easter Sunday Worship
6:30 am – Sunrise Worship @ Johnson Station Cemetery (across Cooper St. from Advent) (When we experience beginning the day in darkness and welcome the Light of Christ ushering in a New Day.)
8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 am – Festival Worship (When we celebrate the Good News of Jesus’ Resurrection and New Life among us.)
Also note…
9:45 am – Family Breakfast, Egg Hunt & Activities (Families are invited to eat and egg-hunt together. The Resurrection story will be experienced through a unique presentation with the eggs. Families will travel to Resurrection Stations to engage the story of Jesus and to receive sweets.)
