Advent Lutheran Church has a vibrant and growing youth ministry. In addition to our Sunday morning Disciple Life class, and our Sunday afternoon Confirmation group, we have many opportunities for service and fellowship. Paintball Camping, Saturday, Nov. 19th
Advent’s youth will be heading to DFW Adventure Park in Roanoke, TX. Starting at 7pm, we’ll have dinner, worship, & s’mores, camp out overnight. The next morning, we’ll get up, cook breakfast, and paintball! The cost is $40 per person, and any senior high youth, and their friends, are invited. The venue (DFW Adventure park) requires a waiver form, in addition to our standard medical form, which can be found on their website (www.dfwap.com). Parent’s Night Out, Sunday Dec. 4th
The youth of Advent will be hosting a “Parent’s Night Out” event, where the youth (and adult sponsors) will watch your young ones so you can run some errands, do some holiday shopping, or just catch a break for a few hours. We’ll start with lunch at 12:30pm, and have activities planned until 6:30pm, whereupon any remaining children will be sold to the gypsies (just kidding!) If you’d like to help out, reserve a spot for your young’uns, or just have a question, contact Thane at thane@alctx.org. **Note, we changed the end time (it is now 6:30pm) to help out those who would be attending the Children’s Ministry Team meeting/party on that day.
Visit the Older Folks, Sunday Dec. 11th
We’ll be visiting the older folks at Town Home Estates, an assisted living community here in Arlington. We’ll meet shortly after the end of the late service, 12:30pm, and decorate cookies to take with us. We’ll be going with the younger children from Advent, so it should be a big, fun group of us going.
Youth Christmas Party, Sunday, Dec. 18th
We’ll have the annual Christmas party for Advent’s youth. We’ll have snacks, games, and a gift exchange. The exact time and location haven’t been determined yet, be sure to come back for the details!
