ADVENTAdvent Lutheran CORE VALUES STATEMENT

Advent Lutheran Church is an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) congregation that strives to follow God’s Word in the Bible and through traditional Lutheran doctrines.  We believe in justification by grace and emphasize frequent participation in the sacraments and prayer.  We believe in God expressed in three persons as described in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creed.

As a Christian congregation, we value moving people towards greater maturity in their faith and discipleship through . . .

PRAYER – an integral part in the spiritual growth of this congregation through communicating the needs, hopes, and joys of God’s children.

WORSHIP AND MUSIC – our outward expression of praise to God, whereby all are made to feel welcome and encouraged to celebrate God’s Word and the sacraments in community through the Lutheran theological tradition.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION – knowledge of the Word of God gives us a firm foundation in our relationship with Christ.  It compels us to share His teachings and love with all people.

SMALL GROUPS –  small groups serve Jesus by serving others.  Within the small group, members share God’s love, grow spiritually, experience fellowship with one another, and are inspired to serve God’s world.

STEWARDSHIP – a joyful commitment to God of time, talent and money in response to God’s grace and love for us.

SERVICE – inspired to action by the Holy Spirit to provide help for the needy in Jesus’ name.

OUTREACH – as the hands of Christ, it is our goal to welcome all:  seek the lost in the neighborhoods around the church campus, to meet our neighbors where they are, and provide a Christian place of worship, support and community.
