The Advent Story
Advent Lutheran Church began in 1975 when Pastor Jonathan Bomgren received his call to begin a mission congregation in Arlington. The task of knocking on doors and making phone calls to recruit people to hold Bible Studies and so the congregation began. In 1976 the congregation rented space from the Arlington Independent School District and held worship services in the cafeteria of Short Elementary School.
The ground breaking ceremony for our location on Cooper St. was held on September 9, 1979.
