The ELCA’s World Hunger ministry has an opportunity to help eliminate world hunger called God’s Global Barnyard. The DiscipleLife (Sunday education hour) children and youth will have a friendly competition during the months of November and December, girls against boys, to raise money to purchase animals that will be given to families in need in impoverished nations such as Kenya, China, Mexico and Ethiopia. The animals provide families with food, funds, and fertilizer, helping to break the cycle of poverty. The offerings that the children bring each week to DiscipleLife will be added to the fund for the animal of their choosing. Check the bulletin board in Luther Hall to see who is winning! While we will be discussing this during DiscipleLife and Koinonia, parents are encouraged to talk about this program with their children or perhaps you can give them some extra money-earning opportunities during the holiday season for this fun contest. What a great way for our young people to be able to Give and Go! The challenge is on! Contact Karen Peck or Jeff Guidry for more information or go to the ELCA’s website (www.elca.org) and search for “God’s Global Barnyard” (under the “Our Faith in Action” link).
